Draw Buyers with Bing Cashback

1

cashbackMicrosoft’s Bing Cashback program (formally known as Live Cashback) has been going strong for well over a year now, and anyone who buys and sells on eBay should be aware of it. It can save buyers a lot of money—and it can bring sellers a lot of sales.

Through this program, buyers earn a percentage of a product’s price as cash back when they buy the qualifying item. This can make items that qualify for the cash back very appealing.

At one point last year, cash-back rebates on eBay were 35 percent! Of course, that didn’t last long, and the discount percentage went back down, but not before savvy buyers—and sellers—took advantage.

Will the discount reach that level again this year? We’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, here’s a link to Microsoft’s Bing Cashback site: www.bing.com/shopping/pages/howtouse.aspx

How sellers can take advantage of Bing Cashback

To make sure my items are eligible for buyers registered with the Bing Cashback program, I’m adding the Buy It Now option. Auction items don’t qualify unless they also have a Buy It Now price. The cash-back rebate is currently at 8 percent on eBay, but I suspect that it will go up once holiday shopping is in full swing.

Don’t forget to include a mention of the Bing program in the subtitle and description of your items to entice buyers.

You should also monitor the discount rates. You can adjust your Buy It Now prices up or down, depending on what the going discount rate is, and still make it a win for both you and your buyer.

There are many forums with complaints from buyers who claim they were denied the rebate (either from PayPal or Microsoft) for one reason or another. It’s important that buyers read all the terms and conditions of the program before making a purchase on eBay:

What do you think of the Bing cash back rebate program? Have you used it before as a buyer? How about as a seller? Did it attract more shoppers?
