I sure didn’t get hired at Auctiva for my computer skills, and I haven’t spent a day in a college computer science class. But, when it comes to saving a few minutes here or there to make selling on eBay easier, I do know a thing or two.
One of the first projects I worked on getting implemented at Auctiva was the image deletion capability for saved listings. When I first started using Auctiva to list on eBay, there was no “easy” way to delete the images from a saved listing I was using to make a new one. Sometimes I had 20 images to delete! It seemed like a no-brainer to me to have a simple way to remove some or all of those images, without having to click the “Remove” box on each one, individually. And so it was done.
Another “change” I thought would help sellers was the re-wording of a single sentence on the Lister under the Checkout Options. I prefer to use the “Require Immediate Payment” option when listing fixed-price items, but the message our users saw in red was “Not compatible with Auctiva Checkout.” Hmm. Did that mean if I listed using Auctiva, I couldn’t require immediate payment?
So I suggested we change the message to read, “Buyers will be directed to eBay’s checkout (not compatible w/Auctiva Checkout.)” Simple. That made more sense to me than the old message, and made it clear that, yes, you can require immediate payment when using Auctiva to list.
More recently, I pushed for having category management built into the One-Page Lister, and the ability to set auto-feedback to post as soon as payment is received, instead of after the buyer has left feedback for you. These capabilities were included in our software update earlier this week. Read more about these and other new features here.
While these changes were not considered “big” to our software developers, they seemed like basic necessities for me—an eBay seller and Auctiva customer. So when you have a suggestion to improve the way Auctiva works—no matter how minor you may think it is—make it anyway. It could make a big difference to our users.
